About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide technical leadership for the design, development, modernization, and support of critical applications supporting Prior Authorization Operations under the PBM line of business
Build and maintain scalable, cloud-native solutions enabling intelligent workflow automation, AI-driven decisioning, document processing, and business process optimization
Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Science, Product, and Business teams
Deliver highly available, secure, and scalable applications
Drive innovation through AI-powered solutions
Support application architecture, development, and production operations
Develop microservices and distributed systems
Implement event-driven and streaming architectures
Apply AI/GenAI, Agentic AI, and LLM-based solutions
Mentor engineers and drive engineering best practices and technical leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of software engineering experience, including designing and supporting enterprise-scale applications
2+ years serving as a Technical Lead, Senior Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role
Strong expertise in Python application development and modern API frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask
Experience designing and implementing microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful APIs
Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native application development
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (GKE), Docker/containerization, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and GitHub
Experience developing and supporting event-driven and streaming solutions using Kafka or similar messaging platforms
Experience with BigQuery, BigTable, SQL, and large-scale data processing solutions
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, system reliability, performance optimization, and observability
Hands-on experience implementing and operationalizing Generative AI solutions, Large Language Models, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, AI Agents, Agentic AI workflows, prompt engineering, and model evaluation frameworks
Experience integrating enterprise applications with AI platforms such as Gemini, Vertex AI, OpenAI, or Claude
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and production support skills
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
Experience in healthcare, pharmacy benefit management, utilization management, or prior authorization operations preferred
Experience building AI-powered workflow automation and decision-support systems preferred
Experience deploying and managing AI applications within regulated environments preferred
Familiarity with MLOps, AI governance, model monitoring, and responsible AI practices preferred
Experience with cloud migration and modernization initiatives preferred
Experience leading architecture reviews, mentoring engineers, and driving engineering best practices across teams preferred
Exposure to document intelligence, OCR, intelligent automation, and business process automation platforms preferred
Experience with healthcare data standards, secure data processing, and compliance requirements preferred
Master's Degree preferred in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Relevant industry certifications in Cloud Computing, Kubernetes, AI/ML, or Software Architecture preferred
