About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define and evolve enterprise CDN and edge-delivery architectures, engineering standards, and reusable design patterns
  • Build APIs, Infrastructure as Code modules, GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and self-service capabilities
  • Standardize onboarding, deployment, configuration, validation, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert for Akamai CDN, edge delivery, web performance, DNS, TLS, caching, routing, traffic management, and application security
  • Lead architecture and design reviews and resolve technical dependencies across teams
  • Analyze and troubleshoot CDN, DNS, TLS, routing, caching, traffic steering, edge-to-origin connectivity, application delivery, and web performance
  • Provide on-call operational support and lead high-priority production incident response
  • Support scheduled evening or nighttime releases when required
  • Coordinate service restoration, communicate during escalations, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
  • Mentor engineers through architecture reviews, design discussions, incident investigations, code reviews, workshops, and hands-on collaboration
  • Set the long-term technical direction and modernization roadmap for CDN, DNS, traffic management, and edge-security platforms

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise CDN (Akamai), edge-delivery, web-performance, DNS, network-delivery, or closely related solutions
  • Deep knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, caching, routing, traffic steering, origin connectivity, and application performance
  • Strong software engineering and automation experience using Python, Go, or Node.js
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, APIs, Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, configuration deployment, reusable tooling, and self-service platform capabilities
  • Experience leading complex production incidents and technical investigations
  • Ability to define reference architectures and engineering standards and lead complex technical initiatives
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and support production changes, incident response, and business-critical releases outside standard working hours
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)
