About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design, development, and delivery of modern, scalable software solutions for MinuteClinic
- Drive the re-platforming of the technology stack and adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices
- Set technical direction and mentor engineers
- Collaborate with product, design, and architecture partners
- Deliver solutions that improve patient care and empower clinical staff
- Take initiative and identify opportunities to accelerate development
- Champion engineering excellence, quality, performance, and reliability
- Adopt new technologies and evaluate emerging tools, including AI-driven development
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or mentoring role
- Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, or distributed systems in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Strong understanding of architectural principles, system design, and engineering best practices
- Ability to take ownership, drive initiatives from concept to delivery, and remove ambiguity through action
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with modern engineering tools, patterns, and AI-assisted development practices
- Hands-on experience with Java, Kotlin, Python, C#, or TypeScript
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automated test frameworks, and observability solutions
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field OR equivalent relevant experience
- Preferred: experience developing healthcare, clinical systems, or regulated enterprise applications
- Preferred: knowledge of microservices architecture, event-driven patterns, or domain-driven design
- Preferred: familiarity with FHIR or HL7
- Preferred: experience leading engineering discussions, conducting design reviews, and coaching junior engineers
- Preferred: ability to identify technical risks, propose solutions, and drive stakeholder alignment
- Exposure to React, Angular, or mobile development is a plus
- Experience experimenting with or implementing AI-powered developer tooling or automation is preferred
