  • Characterize and calibrate superconducting quantum processors
  • Model, assess, and improve real-world quantum processor performance
  • Characterize, understand, and reduce noise in superconducting circuits
  • Design novel devices and device enhancements parametrically
  • Assess processor-environment impacts, including packaging, IO, electronics, and cryogenic elements
  • Develop and execute experimental procedures for superconducting devices
  • Develop theoretical models and simulations for experimental results
  • Develop analysis routines to fit models to data and detect outlier behavior
  • Document experimental results for the processor development team
  • Create and contribute to LISP software infrastructure for modeling, calibrating, and operating processors
  • Collaborate with processor development scientists, device designers, engineers, cryogenic experts, applications developers, marketing, intellectual property, applications development, and engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. in physics or a related discipline, or equivalent experimental research experience
  • Strong critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills
  • Skill in independent research and deep understanding in area of expertise
  • Ability to learn new technical topics quickly and effectively
  • Strong software development experience related to experimental design and automation, data acquisition, and data analysis
  • Willingness to learn new programming languages and software concepts
  • Ability to work effectively on an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills and experience summarizing experimental results for a broad audience
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a time-sensitive environment
  • Exceptional candidates may have background in quantum information, digital or analog superconducting devices, device physics, noise models, and characterization
