About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop electro-mechanical products of significant complexity, supporting program quality, cost, and schedule
- Develop test plans and perform testing of components, subsystems, and total systems for performance, reliability, and industry certification
- Work cross-functionally with design, test, manufacturing, sales, and supply chain teams
- Drive execution of the new product development phase-gate process
- Demonstrate design maturity and growth across development milestones
- Take technical ownership of subsystem or system designs
- Act as technical lead for programs
- Drive innovation around tools and product design
- Lead development of next-generation commercial HVAC products for data center customers
- Support products from concept, design, validation, and certification through production launch
- Serve as technical lead for major systems and subsystems
- Mentor engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, and materials
- Hands-on experience testing electro-mechanical equipment
- Ability to problem solve within engineering and technical concepts
- Able to effectively communicate technical information in a presentation setting
- Capabilities with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools
- Knowledge of Controls, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Design, and Quality
- Understanding of New Product Development processes
- Knowledge of Lean principles
- Ability to translate product requirements into engineering concepts
- Knowledge of DOE, DFMEA, and DVP&R
- Project Management capabilities, including estimating work tasks and supporting project planning
- Knowledge of vapor compression cycle
- Capabilities in modeling/simulation tools such as MATLAB, ANSYS, and VapCyc
- Knowledge of systems engineering and architecture
