About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure the highest quality of HVAC work across all Dallas College locations
- Supervise a team of HVAC technicians
- Schedule and perform quality control for team duties, with at least 50% of time spent working in the field
- Manage the College’s HVAC preventive maintenance program
- Maintain compliance with preventive maintenance standards, policies, and procedures
- Train technicians in repair and preventive maintenance procedures
- Manage the team budget and assist Facilities Management in prioritizing HVAC projects
- Travel within Dallas County using College vehicles
- Complete required Dallas College Professional Development training hours
- Exercise decision-making authority in recruitment, selection, hiring, mentoring, coaching, development, and termination of staff
- Administer performance management, conduct evaluations, and implement employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Eight (8) years of related experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience
- Commercial Chiller/Boiler experience including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance
- Valid Texas driver’s license
- EPA Certification is required
- Advanced knowledge of repair and replacement of mechanical/electrical sensors and control or metering devices
- Ability to operate and manage computer-based electrical systems
- Ability to analyze mechanical and electrical HVAC system data
- Advanced knowledge of installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC units, air handling, and chilled water distribution
- Ability to follow safety and security procedures
- Knowledge of DDC and pneumatic HVAC controls, graphics, calibration techniques, and control-device programming
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate results, solve problems, and make decisions under pressure
- Strong verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills and exceptional customer service ability
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve HVAC issues
- Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system to document daily work orders
