About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of clinical cases
  • Apply specialized toxicology expertise to provide objective, evidence-based medical advisory opinions
  • Review medical records, laboratory results, medication and substance exposure histories, toxicology reports, and relevant clinical documentation
  • Prepare clear and concise clinical summaries
  • Respond to client questions regarding toxicologic findings, diagnoses, treatment, causation, and medical care
  • Perform advisory medical record reviews only; no peer-to-peer discussions, calls, or direct patient care
  • Assess medical necessity and appropriateness of toxicology-related evaluation and treatment
  • Evaluate toxicologic diagnoses, treatment, outcomes, and causation related to toxic exposures when applicable

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certification in Medical Toxicology or appropriate board certification with significant experience and expertise in toxicology
  • Current, unrestricted Texas medical license
  • Minimum of 5+ years of clinical experience in toxicology or a related clinical specialty
  • Ability to attend all required orientation and training sessions
  • Maintains appropriate credentialing, state licensure, board certification, and any other certifications required to perform the role
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to communicate findings clearly and objectively in written form
  • Expertise in reviewing medical records, laboratory results, toxicology reports, medication records, and clinical documentation
  • Ability to provide concise, well-supported, evidence-based clinical opinions
  • Strong understanding of current clinical guidelines and evidence relevant to toxicologic conditions and treatment
