About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage production Debian/Ubuntu Linux servers, including provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, hardening, and migrations
- Manage CPU, memory, storage, processes, services, networking, SSH, users, permissions, sudo, security, backups, and disaster recovery
- Troubleshoot production outages, performance problems, application crashes, memory leaks, and server/application interactions
- Deploy and maintain Node.js/TypeScript applications under PM2, including clusters, process management, deployments, rollbacks, monitoring, and logs
- Configure and maintain NGINX reverse proxies, SSL/TLS certificates, HTTP/HTTPS routing, load balancing, WebSocket proxying, security headers, access controls, and production traffic optimization
- Manage PostgreSQL servers, monitor health and performance, troubleshoot connections, perform backups/restores, understand indexes and basic query performance, and support replication/high availability
- Maintain and troubleshoot FreeSWITCH and OpenSIPS, including SIP registration, call routing, SIP/RTP traffic, NAT, RTP, codecs, packet loss, latency, scaling, and load balancing
- Manage Docker containers, networking, volumes, resources, and production services
- Maintain and improve infrastructure monitoring using Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Netdata, and system/application/service logs
- Automate server-management, monitoring, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks using Bash, Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, Ansible or similar tools, and Git
- Independently detect issues, investigate root causes, implement controlled fixes, verify results, and document solutions
- Work with developers to resolve production issues and establish standardized deployment procedures
- Continuously improve infrastructure reliability, security, scalability, and uptime
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years Linux administration / DevOps experience
- Strong Debian/Ubuntu experience
- Strong Linux troubleshooting
- Experience with NGINX
- Experience with Node.js production environments
- Experience with PM2
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with Docker
- Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, WebSockets, TCP/UDP, NAT, firewalls, routing, VLANs, public/private networking, SIP/RTP networking
- Bash scripting
- Git
- Monitoring/logging experience with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Netdata, Linux system logs, NGINX logs, PM2 logs, application logs, PostgreSQL monitoring, and FreeSWITCH/OpenSIPS logs
- Strong production troubleshooting ability
- Preferred: FreeSWITCH, OpenSIPS, FusionPBX, SIP/RTP, Wireshark, sngrep, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Netdata, Ansible, Redis, WebSockets, CI/CD, OVH/Vultr/AWS infrastructure
- Candidates may be required to complete a practical technical assessment covering Linux troubleshooting, NGINX configuration, PM2/Node.js troubleshooting, PostgreSQL troubleshooting, networking, Docker, FreeSWITCH/OpenSIPS fundamentals, and monitoring/log analysis
