About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install IP CCTV, IP access control, intercom, and subsidiary equipment
  • Install access control/VMS servers and UPS systems
  • Test installed equipment and perform basic programming, including adding card readers, users, cameras, and door controllers
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs according to manufacturer-approved procedures
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair system- or component-level equipment
  • Assign daily tasks to onsite team members, ensure completion, and perform quality control
  • Coordinate daily job-site needs with management and team members
  • Conduct site commissioning and testing with the programmer
  • Train new technicians
  • Maintain smooth communication and rapport between job sites and company personnel
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of job status regularly and promptly
  • Assist with in-house assembly, testing, and checkout tasks
  • Help solve technical challenges and resolve issues that could negatively affect customers
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to obtain a Texas DPS Security Installer license
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Completed Trade School or 2-year degree in Basic Electronics preferred
  • 5+ years of Physical Security Installer Technician and Service Technician experience required
  • Successfully completed basic Access Control/CCTV/Burglar system manufacturer certification preferred
  • Genetec, Axis, Sony, Bosch Intrusion and HID VertX certifications a plus
  • Knowledge of Genetec, Axis, Sony, Bosch Intrusion Detection, and HID VertX preferred
  • Ability to work on other manufacturers' systems without formal training
  • Ability to install physical security components including electric strikes, mag locks, contacts, REX devices, cameras, power supplies, intercoms, and door controllers
  • Fluency in multiple access control controllers, intrusion, and intercom components
  • Basic understanding of access control, life safety, ADA code, and networking
  • Ability to troubleshoot access control or video systems from the server
  • Ability to troubleshoot and configure network security devices
  • System/component-level troubleshooting, electronics knowledge, and ability to use a multimeter
  • Sound judgment and ability to act independently
  • Ability to organize workload effectively and work with urgency
  • Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to operate test equipment
  • Must pass security and background checks
  • Must comply with company and customer safety programs
  • Ability to perform physical job duties, including lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in inclement weather, near moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, vibration, heights, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards
  • Required use of PPE on job sites
