About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct patient insurance education within established company compliance parameters
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve patients’ insurance status and reduce financial risk
  • Help patients find or secure insurance coverage and financial assistance programs
  • Provide customer service across multiple DaVita Dialysis facilities
  • Complete insurance assessments and evaluations to document patient education sessions
  • Liaise between patients, facility teammates, billing office, and corporate office to resolve insurance issues
  • Build and maintain relationships with field partners, including Home Program Departments, Facility Administrators, Social Workers, and Administrative Assistants
  • Work with the supervisor/manager to meet objectives, deadlines, and reporting requirements
  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis on patient education and advocacy metrics
  • Participate in monthly operations reviews for the assigned patient portfolio
  • Identify process-improvement opportunities and review ideas with leadership
  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and trainings
  • Assist with onboarding and training new teammates or perform other assigned duties
  • Travel to DaVita clinics in central and East LA and surrounding areas for patient education and support
  • Work from home on days without clinic travel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 or a medical/religious exemption is required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Basic computer skills
  • High speed internet (minimum of 40 GB)
  • Private workspace
  • Secure transportation to DaVita facilities
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with Medicare and Medicaid insurance as well as commercial insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity) strongly preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare organization working with clinical staff and patients preferred
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Bilingual/Spanish Speaking required
  • Travel and in-person patient support required up to 3–4 times per week
  • Must reside in Los Angeles
  • Ability to squat, walk, and stand for more than 15 minutes
  • Comfortable with the sight of blood
  • Valid driver’s license within the state of application with an acceptable driving record
