About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and manage healthcare-focused data science projects from conceptualization through deployment
Develop and implement machine learning, natural language processing, deep learning, and generative AI models for healthcare problems
Use Python to build, test, and deploy data science solutions
Use the GCP software stack to manage and analyze large healthcare datasets
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clinical experts to integrate data-driven insights into healthcare processes
Mentor and guide junior data scientists
Stay current with advancements in data science, machine learning, generative AI, and healthcare analytics
Present findings and recommendations to healthcare professionals and senior leadership
Ensure data science and AI best practices are followed across the team

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
4–8 years of experience in data science or a related field, focused on healthcare applications
Experience within a healthcare setting, preferred
Expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI
Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn
Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Vertex AI, BigQuery, AI Platform, and Dataflow
Strong understanding of healthcare data sources, healthcare informatics, and clinical data standards
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong communication and leadership skills
Proven track record of leading successful healthcare data science projects
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinicians and healthcare professionals
Experience with EHR data and healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR, preferred
Experience with containerization tools, particularly Docker, preferred
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, preferred
Familiarity with R and SQL, preferred
