About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead category management efforts focused primarily on pharmaceutical products and other direct procurement categories supporting kidney care delivery
- Develop and maintain market knowledge across pharmaceutical and kidney care product categories, including FDA approvals, biosimilar launches, and manufacturer capabilities
- Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, including RFI/RFP development, supplier selection, bid analysis, price modeling, negotiations, and contract execution
- Create and execute category strategies to drive cost savings, ensure supply continuity, and align with clinical and operational goals
- Partner with clinical teams, finance, legal, pharmacy operations, and other stakeholders to identify sourcing opportunities and align procurement strategies with patient care objectives
- Conduct spend analysis and market assessments to identify opportunities, cost drivers, risks, and contracting levers
- Lead contracting initiatives focused on compliance, reimbursement optimization, risk mitigation, and value-based sourcing
- Drive Village-wide supplier diversity, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives as needed
- Support drug shortage mitigation planning and supplier redundancy strategies
- Maintain knowledge of CMS reimbursement changes, TDAPA eligibility, and FDA regulatory requirements
- Manage direct spend categories for nearly 3,000 clinical facilities
- Partner with Strategic Sourcing and Procurement teams on projects to reduce spending and supply risk
- Communicate with DaVita teammates, vendors, and C-level executives across multiple functional areas
- Help build a relatively new team and organization from the ground up
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of business experience, or an MBA with background in contract analysis, supplier negotiation, and strategic sourcing
- 5+ years of Strategic Sourcing and Category Management experience
- Experience developing and implementing category strategies, ideally in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or a highly regulated environment
- Experience leading end-to-end sourcing initiatives, including RFI/RFP development and competitive bidding processes
- Strong strategic mindset and analytic skills, including ability to work with large amounts of data to drive strategic decisions
- Experience collaborating with clinical teams or stakeholders to align sourcing with care delivery and patient outcomes (preferred)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Ability to operate Tableau
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple tasks and competing priorities
