About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure onsite work is completed safely, with high quality and productivity
  • Maintain and implement the three phases of quality control per USACE QCM requirements
  • Ensure adherence to USACE EM385-1-1 safety standards
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and processes for construction projects
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and audits
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors on quality control plans
  • Oversee corrective action plans for non-conformities
  • Monitor construction progress and provide guidance on quality standards
  • Coordinate and facilitate training on quality control procedures and best practices
  • Maintain documentation for quality control processes, inspections, and test results
  • Conduct root cause analysis and identify process improvements
  • Track construction quality-management codes, regulations, and industry trends
  • Conduct weekly QC meetings with the client
  • Conduct daily safety meetings with subcontractors as needed
  • Review subcontractor Activity Hazard Analyses before definable features of work begin
  • Perform one, two, or all three roles of Superintendent, SSHO, and QCM based on contract requirements
  • Travel to manage projects primarily east of the Mississippi River

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction industry experience
  • 5 years of Federal construction experience
  • Proficient in NAVFAC eCMS and USACE RMS for reporting
  • Working knowledge of Procore Project Management Software is a plus
  • Understanding of Quality Control Manager requirements, including daily reports, preparatory and initial meetings, submittal register, testing log, and weekly quality control meetings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • OSHA 30-hour Certification required
  • Current CPR and First Aid Training required
  • USACE EM385-1-1 40 Hour Certification required
  • Current USACE Quality Control Management Certification required
  • Knowledge of construction-related technologies, quality activities, and quality auditing
  • Ability to read and understand engineering design drawings, specifications, technical instructions, plans, and reports
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; years of experience considered in lieu of a degree
  • Proven construction quality management or quality assurance experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret project design documents, drawings, and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials
  • Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Ability to identify potential quality issues proactively
  • Organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on continuous improvement
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in construction quality management software and tools
  • Located in or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area
