About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Centrally install, configure, and maintain computer software and operating system integrity
  • Implement operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance
  • Recommend efficient provisioning of physical and virtual components
  • Support and manage patching services and patch repositories
  • Administer, configure, and troubleshoot local operating environments
  • Work with medical PMOs to consolidate existing medical information systems into LCI, MTF, or Region-owned shared services environments
  • Maintain MTF network connectivity
  • Manage installation of IT equipment, network devices, and peripheral devices
  • Administer and provision database environments
  • Provision computer and storage resources in virtual multi-tenancy cloud and on-premises environments
  • Administer centralized tools to provision, license, configure, and monitor operational systems across geographically separated units
  • Provide load balancing, backup/restoral, and disaster recovery solutions
  • Perform Information System Security functions for MTF-hosted applications and servers
  • Install, configure, administer, monitor, and maintain MTF infrastructures and IT shared services hosting environments
  • Develop, maintain, validate, update, and distribute baseline operating environment images
  • Manage self-service provisioning, automation, and orchestration tools
  • Establish and maintain an integrated system test lab
  • Develop metrics and reports for medical application downtime and customer support
  • Submit SITREPs within 1 hour and corrective action plans within 8 hours of system outages
  • Diagnose and resolve computer, software, printer, web, and mobile device issues
  • Document, track, and monitor problems through the DHA-approved ticketing system
  • Provide Tier I and II end-user support and Tier III reach-back support
  • Coordinate with network services, software engineering, and application development teams to restore service and resolve core problems
  • Recreate user problems and recommend system modifications
  • Provide Video Teleconferencing program support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field identified; work experience may substitute for education
  • Minimum one year experience as a System Administrator
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
  • Security Clearance Required
  • Background Investigation Tier 3, IAT Level 2 ADP/IT II
  • Apply software updates and security patches and apply DISA STIGs
  • Strong skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organization, high attention to detail, and ability to understand complicated logistical information
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, compromise, and solve problems
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Execute vulnerability scans as needed
