About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as Daymark Health’s first in-house lawyer and build the legal function from the ground up
  • Join the senior leadership team and report directly to the CEO
  • Act as company-wide general counsel covering corporate governance, board matters, entity formation and maintenance, M&A and diligence support, and commercial contracting
  • Lead corporate practice of medicine analysis across all states of operation
  • Support payer and value-based care contracting from LOI through execution
  • Lead resolution of payer disputes and coordinate litigation strategy with outside counsel
  • Select, manage, and hold accountable outside counsel
  • Deliver a company-wide legal risk assessment and prioritized 12-month legal roadmap
  • Advise on Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, state licensure, scope of practice, telehealth, fee-splitting, and corporate practice rules
  • Partner with Clinical Operations and compliance on clinical staffing, supervision, and delegation arrangements
  • Own HIPAA and state-specific health data privacy compliance
  • Establish legal and governance frameworks for AI use and advise on AI vendor contracts and internal AI tooling
  • Review and negotiate vendor, technology, SaaS, partnership, licensing, and real estate agreements
  • Own multi-state employment law matters
  • Manage corporate insurance programs and IP protection and assignment
  • Establish scalable contract review, regulatory tracking, and legal risk escalation processes
  • Advise the executive team and board on legal risk across strategic initiatives
  • Optimize outside counsel for cost and quality as the company scales

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience working in healthtech
  • JD and have passed the bar
  • Legal background in corporate law, not litigation
  • Substantive experience negotiating and structuring value-based care arrangements with health plans
  • Deep, hands-on experience with CPOM, healthcare fraud and abuse law (Stark, AKS, FCA), and MSO/PC structuring across multiple states
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA and state privacy law
  • Comfort advising on emerging AI governance and liability issues
  • Experience with multi-state employment law for a distributed or clinical workforce
  • Prior experience as an Associate General Counsel or senior deputy
  • Experience spanning governance, M&A, commercial, and employment matters without a large team
  • Track record of building legal processes and infrastructure
  • Sound judgment on when to build in-house versus engage outside counsel
  • Excellent judgment, low ego, and a bias toward pragmatic, business-enabling solutions
  • Role location: Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, or Remote
