About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, suppression systems, and emergency lighting
- Ensure fire systems are operational and compliant with local, national, and international fire safety standards and regulations
- Inspect and test fire protection systems regularly
- Ensure fire protection measures comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices
- Maintain documentation for fire safety systems and procedures for audits and inspections
- Conduct risk assessments and develop fire safety plans, evacuation procedures, and emergency response protocols
- Plan and execute maintenance and testing schedules, coordinating with external contractors
- Troubleshoot and resolve fire protection system issues
- Monitor fire system performance and recommend upgrades or improvements
- Collaborate with the Building Services Manager, operations teams, and external contractors
- Provide staff training and guidance on fire safety practices and emergency procedures
- Participate in fire drills and emergency preparedness exercises
- Respond to fire alarms and emergency situations with technical expertise
- Investigate fire incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Fluent in English
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fire protection engineering, focused on large-scale facilities such as data centres, commercial buildings, or industrial sites
- Strong knowledge of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, and suppression systems
- Familiarity with relevant fire safety codes and regulations, including NFPA and local building codes
- Proven experience managing maintenance schedules, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
- Certifications such as Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or equivalent are highly desirable
