About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Dayton Children's reimbursement goals through accurate and timely diagnosis and procedural coding
  • Examine and interpret electronic medical documentation
  • Assign and report appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery records
  • Submit clean claims
  • Work under general supervision of the Coding Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • CCS required or must obtain within 6 months of employment
  • 2+ years coding experience preferred
  • Pediatric experience helpful
  • Knowledge of automated workflow applications and processes
  • Computer skills
  • Oral and written communication
  • Medical and non-medical terminology
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Experience with 3M encoder
  • EPIC experience
