Deliver relevant, accurate and audience-focused content, including news stories, live blogs, explainers and video
Break news quickly and take ownership of major developing stories
Identify and pursue original story opportunities, follow-ups and exclusives
Build and maintain relationships with contacts, public bodies, emergency services and community stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experienced reporter with strong news judgement and a clear understanding of what makes a compelling story
Proven track record of identifying, breaking and developing major stories
Excellent writing skills and ability to produce engaging content across digital platforms
Experience using analytics and SEO to inform editorial decisions
Confidence working independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Strong contact-building skills and proactive approach to sourcing stories
Sound understanding of Scots Law, the Editors' Code of Practice and responsible journalism
Ambition to compete for stories and grow audience through timely, accurate reporting
Full UK driving licence is essential
