About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Help develop and execute software product strategies and the product roadmap with the VP of Software
- Design, develop, and improve DATUM, the company’s Warehouse Execution System and Warehouse Control System (WES/WCS)
- Provide full-stack design and development across an event-driven microservices architecture
- Build backend services, integrations, AI capabilities, and user interfaces using modern open-source frameworks
- Lead design and development for customer projects and research and development initiatives using Agile development and testing practices
- Mentor entry-level and mid-level developers and Software Delivery team members
- Support integrated system commissioning at customer sites, requiring approximately 15% travel
- Contribute to development, implementation, support, and IT activities as needed
- Evaluate organizational performance data and help adapt team practices
- Stay current on relevant technologies and industry developments
- Represent DCS and the Software team with professionalism, ethics, and integrity
Requirements
What you’ll need- Five or more years of experience in industrial software development
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience with open-source software frameworks and related development tools
- Comfort using the Linux command line and working with operating system services and configurations
- Proficiency with modern integrated development environments, Git for source control, Microsoft Office, and project management platforms such as Jira or Azure DevOps
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 15% to support customer commissioning
- Ability to mentor others and help grow the Software team
- Clear communication and effective collaboration with customers, management, and cross-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Creative problem-solving skills
