About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the lab systems end to end: the lab information system, scanners, automations, servers, network and integrations with the cloud platform
- Own the release cycle for lab systems, including impact assessment, testing, validation, rollback planning and go/no-go decisions
- Make upgrades to core lab systems safe and predictable
- Lead service recovery, restore service and identify and fix root causes
- Manage lab software suppliers, agree priorities and support availability, and hold them to agreed delivery dates
- Plan downtime and change windows with the lab to protect turnaround time
- Implement and maintain monitoring, disaster recovery and business continuity
- Maintain documentation and evidence required for UKAS ISO 15189, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and NHS DSPT accreditations
- Collaborate with IT, information security, integration, product, technical support and software suppliers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hands-on experience configuring, running and maintaining a LIMS or LIS
- Experience in a hospital, pathology or clinical laboratory, or another regulated healthcare setting
- Experience integrating lab systems with cloud or SaaS products and other systems (e.g. HL7, APIs)
- A track record of managing upgrades and changes in a live, business-critical environment
- Experience managing software suppliers and holding them to delivery dates
- A habit of building in monitoring, recovery and documentation as part of everyday work
- At least 3 days per week on site in Kidlington
- Occasional travel to Exeter
- Must be able to work without visa sponsorship
- Experience with digital pathology or medical imaging (whole slide scanners, DICOM, PACS), HL7 instrument integration, or SQL troubleshooting would be advantageous
