About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain public health emergency response plans and annexes
- Support the Planning Section during Incident Management System activations as the Documentation Desk
- Develop Planning Section documentation, including Incident Action Plans, Situation Reports, transition planning materials, meeting materials, Standard Operating Procedures, and planning templates
- Develop, update, and maintain all-hazards public health emergency response plans, annexes, and operational planning documents
- Support development and updates to Incident Action Plans, transition planning, and other Planning Section documents
- Ensure alignment with the National Incident Management System, National Response Framework, and federal preparedness and response standards
- Provide direct support to the Planning Section during activations, exercises, and steady-state operations
- Assist with development and dissemination of Situation Reports, Incident Action Plans, planning meeting materials, and other operations planning documents
- Collect, validate, and synthesize data from multiple sources to support situational awareness
- Produce written and visual products, including reports and briefings, for leadership decision-making
- Maintain documentation and records of response activities in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Ensure quality control and accuracy of planning and reporting products
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Bachelor’s degree with 4 years’ experience in emergency management or equivalent experience; seven years’ experience in emergency management and 2 years specifically in public health emergency management may substitute
- Demonstrated experience in emergency management, public health preparedness, or incident management
- Working knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS) / Incident Management System (IMS)
- Working knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS)
- Working knowledge of public health emergency frameworks and doctrine
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Planner)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in high-tempo environments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to communicate effectively in briefings and written products
- Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
- Ability to coordinate across multiple time zones and agencies
- Must maintain readiness for IMS activation, including extended hours, shift work, and surge support
- Ability to participate in required exercises and real-world responses
