About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and enhance the backend software for Opus::L, with a focus on C and C++
Continuously optimize existing software components from a technical perspective
Modernize the system architecture and integrate and further develop core system components
Connect to ActiveMQ, replace existing CORBA structures, and implement modern REST services
Maintain and further develop existing backend components and scripts, particularly in Tcl and Shell/Bash
Analyze and technically specify requirements in close collaboration with Product Management
Implement and test new features with a focus on quality, performance, and user-friendliness
Analyze errors, debug, and maintain existing software components
Document developed solutions and technical processes

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree in Computer Science or completed vocational training as an IT specialist (or equivalent)
At least five years of professional experience in backend development, with a focus on C and C++
Excellent knowledge of C and C++, along with solid experience maintaining and further developing existing codebases
In-depth knowledge of modern C++ and the Standard Library, particularly C++20/23, RAII, and smart pointers
Additional experience with Qt and Boost
Required: Experience with Docker
Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation, preferably with GitHub
Practical experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS Cloud Services (optional)
Enthusiasm for using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ideally with hands-on experience, and a willingness to professionally review and quality-assure the results
Experience with Clean Code principles
Proficiency in test-driven development (TDD), unit and integration testing, and common testing frameworks
