About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Administer and support SQL Server and cloud databases for the Tolling Engineering and Operations Team
Provide help desk and application support as part of a team rotation
Monitor databases to maintain uptime and availability
Troubleshoot application and database issues involving connectivity, access, and security
Tune long-running SQL queries
Review and refine database tasks and processes to align with agency and group priorities
Use operating-system scripting utilities for database maintenance, diagnosis, and support
Review database implementation and propose, execute, or direct necessary changes
Perform SQL Server installations, including versions 2022 and 2025+ with failover clustering
Administer, support, and tune SQL Server databases
Work with Engineering and Operations professionals
Communicate clearly and effectively in speaking and writing

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 2 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server databases
At least 1 year of Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks experience; a certification is acceptable in lieu of experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively using standard requirements and design artifacts
Expertise working as a SQL Server DBA
Experience with SQL clustering, mirroring, and high availability
Experience with large SQL databases
Expertise writing Transact-SQL
Experience tuning SQL Server databases
Experience installing, upgrading, patching, and migrating SQL Server databases
Experience working on a Windows platform
Exposure to SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS
Experience working with Azure Cloud
Knowledge of data modeling principles
Ability to work independently on complicated tasks
Ability to work with an Engineering and Operations team
Clear and effective verbal and written communication
Fingerprint-based background check required
