About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Enter payments within an EMR system and generate patient invoices
Accurately code medical claims and electronically submit them to insurance payers each day
Handle inbound and outbound calls
Verify insurance coverage and assist patients with insurance questions
Work patient and insurance aged receivables
Collect, post, and manage patient account payments
Prepare and review patient statements
Import and balance EFTs
Identify and correct rejected claims
Review delinquent accounts and contact patients for collection purposes
Process payments from insurance companies
Follow up on accepted or denied claims
Review and appeal unpaid and denied claims
Evaluate medical record documentation to ensure appropriate CPT and ICD-10 coding
Obtain precertification for specific procedures when required
Investigate and report suspected insurance fraud

Requirements

What you’ll need

Official High School Transcripts, Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
Ability to navigate between different tabs and systems on the computer while attending phone calls
CPB or other Medical Billing Certification desired, but not required
CPC or Medical Coding Certification desired, but not required
Strong Attention to Detail
Ability to Multitask
General Understanding of Insurance Terminology
Ability to Communicate Clearly with Patients and Staff
Must live in Illinois or Florida
Must have a dedicated workspace within your home
Must pass a Wi-Fi speed test
