About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently carry a case load of litigation files from start to finish
- Defend auto claims, accident benefits, bodily injury, commercial lines, property, subrogation, and coverage matters
- Provide assessments to claims partners on liability and quantum of damages
- Draft opinions, pleadings, and motions
- Conduct Examinations for Discovery
- Attend case-conferences, Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) hearings/arbitrations, motions, pre-trials and trials
- Share and contribute to the growth of legal knowledge with colleagues
- Deliver exceptional client experience and superior legal services
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a team-oriented legal environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in law, Juris Doctor or in a related field
- A minimum of five years of relevant experience
- Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
- Experience with trials and/or arbitrations
- Experience with Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury Insurance
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Ability to independently carry a case load of litigation files from start to finish
- Ability to provide assessments on liability and quantum of damages
- Experience drafting opinions, pleadings, and motions
- Experience conducting Examinations for Discovery
- Experience attending case-conferences, Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) hearings/arbitrations, motions, pre-trials and trials
