About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently carry a case load of litigation files from start to finish
  • Defend auto claims, accident benefits, bodily injury, commercial lines, property, subrogation, and coverage matters
  • Provide assessments to claims partners on liability and quantum of damages
  • Draft opinions, pleadings, and motions
  • Conduct Examinations for Discovery
  • Attend case-conferences, Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) hearings/arbitrations, and Court for motions, pre-trials, and trials
  • Share and contribute to the growth of legal knowledge with colleagues
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver exceptional client experience and superior legal services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in law, Juris Doctor or in a related field
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience with trials and/or arbitrations
  • Experience with Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury Insurance
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Ability to independently carry a case load of litigation files from start to finish
  • Ability to provide assessments on liability and quantum of damages
  • Experience drafting opinions, pleadings, and motions
  • Experience conducting Examinations for Discovery
  • Experience attending case-conferences, Licence Appeal Tribunal (LAT) hearings/arbitrations, and Court for motions, pre-trials, and trials
