About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor, analyze, and track risks in the property and casualty insurance sector by assessing their evolution, potential impacts, and the effectiveness of mitigation measures
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of emerging issues, industry trends, and risks specific to property and casualty insurance to guide second-line-of-defence interventions
  • Conduct objective and independent reviews of large-scale projects, programs, and initiatives to assess non-financial risks and formulate recommendations
  • Maintain ongoing business dialogue with property and casualty insurance collaborators to support proactive risk identification, assessment, and management
  • Ensure the quality, consistency, and business value of second-line-of-defence deliverables, including reviews, challenges, and quality assurance of risk positions
  • Maintain an integrated vision of sector risks, diagnose priority issues, and prioritize activities in line with the sector roadmap
  • Serve as an expert point of reference for assigning, coordinating, and guiding files
  • Contribute to team member development through knowledge transfer and feedback
  • Represent risk management within committees, bodies, and strategic projects related to property and casualty insurance
  • Assist with updating operational risk management practices, processes, tools, and methodologies for the sector

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, business administration, finance, accounting, risk management or any other relevant field
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience, including significant experience in the property and casualty insurance sector
  • Other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience steering complex files
  • Experience in operational risk management, including knowledge of risk management methodologies, frameworks and tools
  • Advanced proficiency in written and spoken French
  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Demonstrated expertise in property and casualty insurance, including an in-depth understanding of products, processes and operational issues
  • Expertise in performing analyses, writing and giving presentations at the executive level
  • Knowledge of a financial institution’s business activities and operations
