About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide work direction and ensure policy, procedure and safety compliance
  • Train employees and move employees as needed to support the plant
  • Assist with team board meetings and communicate policies, procedures and safety information
  • Complete first-level safety investigations and safety audits with the supervisor
  • Maintain production-floor project status reports
  • Monitor work in progress and quality standards
  • Investigate and resolve inventory issues, including kickbacks and scrap
  • Participate in production, overtime, quality, safety and inventory meetings
  • Collaborate with supervisors, quality, engineering, programming and other teams to obtain specifications and clarify print questions
  • Manage product quality using specifications and standard work processes
  • Verify process-control parameters are followed and documented
  • Monitor and improve departmental and customer defect rates
  • Review production requirements and allocate resources under supervisor direction to ensure on-time delivery
  • Lead 6S activities on the production floor
  • Support production schedules, quality procedures, run sheets, packaging signoffs and MRB processes
  • Support or facilitate departmental training and cross-training
  • Use fixtures, equipment, precision measuring devices and hand/power tools
  • Explain and follow written work instructions; assist employees with prints and work instructions
  • Complete routers, inspection sheets, scrap reports and non-conformances
  • Use Oracle to apply labor, close work orders, investigate kickbacks, monitor material issuance and release pick tickets
  • Assist in production and equipment setup
  • Identify and communicate tooling, packaging, equipment and safety issues
  • Provide regular employee-performance feedback to the supervisor
  • Rotate between different plant areas as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 6 months at Destaco or 1 yr. experience in leadership role outside of Destaco
  • Oracle: ability to input applied and move transaction data per job routers
  • Ability to access, read, explain and update work instructions
  • Basic print/drawing reading
  • Ability to use necessary measuring tools to ensure conformance
  • Basic math including decimal numbers, fractions and ruler use
  • Intermediate knowledge of Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of FAST problem solving and viable solutions
  • Basic knowledge of continuous improvement principles
  • Knowledge of ISO policy and identifying/escalating quality issues
  • Working knowledge of HazCom and use of fire extinguishers
  • Skilled in training others
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams and resolve conflict
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Clear verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work a predictable schedule
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand up to 10 hours a day
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and turn
