About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own platform architecture, technical patterns, approaches, and guardrails
- Build production-ready proofs of concept
- Ensure technical documentation and runbooks exist, have repository owners, and remain maintained
- Anticipate cross-system change impacts and guide trade-off decisions
- Define technical standards and developer operational velocity practices
- Manage tooling, frameworks, automation, and AI guidance for safe, fast delivery
- Make build-versus-buy recommendations for platform tooling
- Own instrumentation and observability using Honeycomb and underlying platform layers
- Lead security, reliability, performance, maintainability, and scalability requirements
- Own cutover and deployment discipline for complex migrations, beginning with CRM decommissioning
- Own code review standards and provide technical mentorship to the Nepal team
- Ensure backend systems have at least two engineers able to maintain and extend them
- Provide technical feasibility, cost, and alternative assessments for product initiatives before commitment
Requirements
What you’ll need- A track record of outcomes owned end to end
- Reliability and follow-through with stated timelines and deadlines
- Curiosity when receiving feedback and resilience in chaotic situations
- Architectural responsibility across six or more services at once
- Depth in containers and orchestration, including Docker and Kubernetes; Amazon EKS preferred
- AWS experience, including Lambda and RDS
- Infrastructure-as-code experience, preferably CDK or SAM
- Experience with CDN, WAF, rate limiting, TLS, DNS, and cache strategy
- Strong TypeScript/JavaScript and C# skills
- SQL and defensible database design skills
- Observability expertise, including Honeycomb and PostHog
- Experience with mixed estates including LAMP, PHP, WordPress, XML/SOAP integrations, CRM, and identity systems
- Experience using Claude Code as an agentic coding partner
- Experience coaching engineers and managing service partners across time zones
- Nice to have: Helm, Argo CD, and HubSpot development platform experience
