About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supporting DET’s Legal Department
- Serving as the point of contact for all legal matters raised by DET stakeholders
- Conducting legal analyses, preparing legal opinions, and handling inquiries from business units relating to civil and administrative law
- Handling complex matters relating to commercial, energy and civil law
- Reviewing and negotiating national and international agreements, particularly energy-sector agreements
- Ensuring corporate governance and managing corporate-law matters
- Managing external legal counsel, including cost control and quality assurance
- Supporting the establishment, evaluation, and further development of compliance and data protection management systems
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies
- Conducting risk management and risk analyses, and preparing risk reports
- Developing and delivering training on compliance, data protection, and energy law topics
- Managing contracts and monitoring contract performance, deadlines, and risks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified German lawyer (successful completion of the First and Second State Examinations in Law), with a minimum grade of “satisfactory”
- At least 3–5 years of professional experience at an international commercial law firm or in a comparable company
- Sound knowledge of general civil law, particularly contract law, commercial law, corporate governance, and complex contract drafting
- Experience in contract negotiations (national and international) and corporate governance
- Knowledge of energy law and energy regulatory law, as well as competition and antitrust law, is an advantage
- Experience in compliance management and data protection management is desirable
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills, quick comprehension, excellent communication skills, and strong negotiating abilities
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office
- Initial experience using commonly available AI tools is desirable
- Native-level German
- Very good written and spoken English
