About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support new student enrollment by partnering with Admissions to answer queries and provide information about programs, costs, and funding options
  • Develop and validate estimated financial plans and establish timelines for applicants
  • Maintain knowledge of academic and Title IV financial aid programs, policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Monitor student accounts and guide students on financial eligibility and academic and financial awards
  • Analyze student data to identify academic and financial obstacles and collaborate with students to overcome them
  • Use data and systems to track enrollment, persistence, and graduation information
  • Recommend resources based on student needs, including self-service tools, new student orientation, and online student community participation
  • Document and preserve all student interactions in designated institutional systems
  • Evaluate complex academic and financial situations using discretion and independent judgment
  • Provide proactive advising and support through incoming and outgoing calls, chats, personalized emails, and SMS
  • Advocate for students and connect them with resources and support services throughout their academic journey
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, Admissions, and other departments to support student success through graduation
  • Meet and exceed service-level metrics

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Some college coursework required
  • Minimum of 1 year of exceptional customer service or prior advising experience in an education setting
  • Eligible to access and maintain the NSLDS system
  • Must not be in default of Title IV Federal aid
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), internet applications, and database software systems
  • Ability to work in an environment free of distractions and interruptions, with no conflicting responsibilities during scheduled shifts
  • Home office equipped with hardwired DSL or cable internet via Ethernet meeting minimum required speeds; wireless, satellite, and dial-up services are not permissible
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and rotating Saturdays
  • Successful completion of all training assessments with a passing score
  • Ability to comply with organizational, state, federal, and accrediting body policies and procedures
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, time management, attention to detail, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Preferred: prior similar higher education experience, Title IV funding experience, online learning experience, and fast-paced call center experience
