About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the new student enrollment process in partnership with Admissions
- Answer student questions and provide information about programs, costs, and funding options
- Develop and validate estimated financial plans and establish timelines for applicants
- Advise students on academic, financial, and service-related matters throughout their educational journey
- Maintain knowledge of academic and Title IV financial aid programs, policies, procedures, and regulations
- Monitor student accounts and provide guidance on financial eligibility
- Evaluate academic and financial awards to promote positive student outcomes
- Identify academic and financial obstacles by analyzing student data
- Collaborate with students to overcome barriers to success
- Track accurate enrollment, persistence, and graduation information using data and systems
- Recommend resources such as self-service tools, new student orientation, and online student communities
- Document and preserve all student interactions in designated institutional systems
- Evaluate complex academic and financial situations using discretion and independent judgment
- Communicate with students through incoming and outgoing calls, chats, personalized emails, and SMS
- Advocate for students and connect them with resources and support services
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, Admissions, and other departments from application through graduation
- Work toward one-call resolution and meet or exceed service-level metrics
Requirements
What you’ll need- Some college coursework required
- A minimum of 1-year of exceptional customer service or prior advising experience in an education setting
- Eligible to access and maintain the NSLDS system
- Must not be in default of Title IV Federal aid
- Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), internet applications, and database software systems
- Work environment free of distractions and interruptions, with no conflicting responsibilities during scheduled shifts
- Home office equipped with hardwired DSL or cable internet via Ethernet
- Minimum required internet speeds; wireless, satellite, or dial-up internet services are not permissible
- Ability to complete all training assessments with a passing score
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
- Ability to collaborate across departments
- Tech-savvy and able to navigate multiple systems
- Ability to adhere to organizational, state, federal, and accrediting body policies and procedures
- Knowledge of university programs, prerequisites, course materials, and academic engagement
- Self-starter qualities, prioritization, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer service, attention to detail, and communication skills
- Ability to meet and exceed service-level metrics
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Preferred: prior experience in a similar higher-education role
- Preferred: Title IV funding experience
- Preferred: knowledge and experience with online learning
- Preferred: fast-paced, dynamic call center experience
