About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of fields
  • Facilitate student learning by teaching courses and programs in accordance with DeVry University requirements
  • Develop course syllabi and lesson plans and apply teaching techniques to achieve course and programmatic objectives
  • Participate in faculty training and ongoing faculty development activities
  • Develop and provide an approved DeVry University syllabus following the local campus template and including terminal course objectives
  • Organize, prepare, and regularly revise and update course materials
  • Use online technologies and course-related software, including websites, email, and online discussions
  • Model effective oral and written communications that engage students and improve learning
  • Set clear course expectations, including objectives, assignment/examination dates, and evaluation weighting
  • Ensure exam content and level correspond to course terminal objectives
  • Prepare and grade exams consistently and fairly and provide timely student feedback
  • Integrate responsible AI technologies in the classroom
  • Recognize, evaluate, and address appropriate and inappropriate student use of AI tools
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A master's degree in Sociology or Environmental Science is required
  • 18 graduate credit hours in the subject being taught
  • Applicants must upload unofficial graduate-level transcripts with their application
  • Degrees must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, or by an international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation
  • Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply
  • Requisite subject matter expertise
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development in instructional technology, digital literacy, and responsible AI practices
  • A doctorate is preferred
