About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and independently conduct analyses and studies on energy markets, particularly the electricity market
- Analyze energy markets and prices, including system costs
- Coordinate research projects
- Examine fiscal policy implications and interactions with electricity grid expansion
- Develop concrete policy proposals, analyses, and positions
- Work closely with colleagues in the Energy Lab and other organizational teams
- Organize expert discussions and other subject-related events
- Engage with representatives of parliaments, governments, academia, business, and the media
- Analyze energy costs, investment requirements, total system costs, and interactions between policy instruments
- Contribute to connecting energy policy with competitiveness, sustainability, and affordability
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Relevant professional experience
- Knowledge of energy markets, particularly the electricity market
- Understanding of policy instruments
- Ability to identify figures and data relevant to policy decisions and economic policymaking
- Ability to independently and rigorously design and produce original quantitative and written analyses
- Proven experience successfully implementing research projects
- Ability to communicate findings and policy recommendations concisely
- Excellent communication skills in German and English
- Ability to write sophisticated, accessible texts in German and English
- Advanced practical knowledge of commonly used AI tools
- Willingness to take responsibility for individual projects
- Commitment to continuous learning and to developing and revising one’s own views
- Enjoyment of teamwork and willingness to support and mentor colleagues
