About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Gather requirements with State IT resources and agency staff to understand data sources, current data mapping, and existing interface structures
Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for Medicaid data using ERwin or ER/Studio
Design a scalable, performant, and high-quality Medicaid data warehouse structure where none exists
Support creation of the Medicaid data catalog and data lineage by providing entity definitions, attributes, relationships, and metadata
Map system-to-system interactions and data movement between Medicaid systems and processes, including reporting to internal and external partners
Recommend improvements to database design, data management, and data sharing
Identify data inconsistencies, integration challenges, and risks related to data management, storage, organization, and security
Contribute to the monthly status report on work completed and timelines
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Note: Three professional references from previous employment are required with the application; each reference must include the organization name, reference's name, phone number, and email address
Hands-on experience with data modeling tools such as ERwin or ER/Studio
Experience with conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, data catalogs, and data lineage
Proficiency with relational SQL and NoSQL database technologies
Deep understanding of enterprise database management and design best practices
Minimum senior level healthcare services knowledge; expert level preferred
Medicaid or MMIS experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices
Understanding of business intelligence concepts
Working knowledge of Microsoft Purview preferred
Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work onsite in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the duration of the engagement
Availability to start on or about November 9, 2026
