About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Complete OSSE's EGMS training and attend the virtual, grant-specific orientation webinar
Independently read and conduct detailed reviews of assigned applications, typically two or more per competition
Evaluate the feasibility and soundness of applicants' school facility plans
Complete a fully scored rubric for every section of each application
Write clear, constructive comments explaining strengths and weaknesses and aligning with scores
Base scores and comments only on each applicant's EGMS submission
Submit scores and comments in EGMS by the review deadline
Participate in a facilitated panel discussion by phone or video conference when scores differ significantly
Submit a final rubric with updated scores and comments when required
Disclose conflicts of interest and decline applications where a conflict exists
Direct technical and grant-related questions to the specified EGMS and OSSE resources

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree or higher
Minimum of three years of school-based education experience and/or relevant graduate-level study
Reliable access to a computer, the internet, and a phone
Availability for the full review process, including EGMS training, orientation webinar, complete review window, and facilitated discussion if required
No conflict of interest with any applicant organization in this competition, confirmed through a signed Conflict of Interest Form
No unsatisfactory performance evaluation from past grant review work for OSSE or any other grant-making organization
Project management experience for a construction or renovation project of a commercial-use facility or school building preferred
Experience with commercial real estate financing preferred
Prior experience reviewing competitive grant applications for OSSE or another government agency preferred
