About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Guide current and prospective students, parents, care providers, faculty, and campus partners through ADS accommodation processes and SOAR study and time-management support
  • Assess inquiries and determine appropriate resolutions or referrals
  • Co-facilitate timed assessments for students with test-taking accommodations
  • Review accommodations and exams to arrange appropriate space, staffing, assistive technology, materials, and resources
  • Communicate with students and faculty regarding expectations, incomplete or conflicting information, and scheduling changes
  • Maintain testing security and academic integrity and securely deliver completed exams
  • Oversee end-of-day exam proctoring and the Proctoring Center, including test-takers, student proctors, and temporary staff
  • Independently resolve proctoring and operational issues
  • Co-manage confidential accommodation records, databases, and case workflows for approximately 500 students
  • Monitor unresolved items, establish priorities, and address required actions
  • Produce reports and recommend or implement improvements to forms, communications, information systems, and procedures
  • Conduct individualized reviews of academic, housing, dietary, and mobility accommodation requests
  • Analyze documentation, accommodation recommendations, functional limitations, and access barriers
  • Determine and document reasonable accommodations using independent judgment
  • Manage inventory, purchasing, expense reconciliation, form creation, webpage revisions, and office organization
  • Recommend or make expenditures and maintain accurate records
  • Assist with training, scheduling, and reviewing student employees and casual staff
  • Develop working knowledge of accommodation services to provide continuity during colleague absences
  • Support assistive-technology loans, supplemental notes, accessible texts, and real-time captioning
  • Plan and organize work, set priorities, and adjust workflows
  • Participate in departmental planning and recommend policy, practice, communication, and service-delivery improvements
  • Handle confidential disability and student information in accordance with law and college policy
  • Maintain knowledge of college policies, disability case law, best practices, and departmental systems
  • Guide the work of others performing essentially the same work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, relevant training, and relevant professional administrative experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project coordination skills
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet time-sensitive deadlines
  • Demonstrated analytical and real-time problem-solving abilities
  • Experience reviewing complex information, applying policies or standards, and making consequential decisions
  • Strong computer skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including calendar scheduling, Word documents, mail merges, and advanced Excel formulas and functions
  • Ability to learn new systems and technologies
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to seek consultation when appropriate
  • Commitment to responsive, inclusive, and respectful service for individuals with varied identities, experiences, communication styles, and access needs
  • Ability to oversee exam proctoring until 6 pm, as needed
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience
  • Preferred: experience in a higher education setting
  • Preferred: experience working directly with young adults
  • Preferred: experience with disability accommodations, accessibility, student support, compliance, and/or individualized case review
  • Preferred: knowledge about and/or relevant experience with individuals with disabilities
  • Preferred: experience using a database or case-management system
