About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join a collaborative, client-centered legal team as a Contract Family Law Attorney
- Attend court in Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties
- Travel to the Houston office as needed
- Manage family law cases independently
- Handle contested hearings, mediations, trials, direct and cross-examination
- Conduct discovery and depositions
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and final orders
- Handle mediation, negotiation, and high-conflict matters
- Meet approximately 160 approved billable hours monthly
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience
- Texas family law experience
- Divorce litigation experience
- Child custody and support experience
- Conservatorship experience
- Property division experience
- Enforcement actions and modifications experience
- Family court hearings, mediation, and trial representation experience
- Discovery and deposition experience
- Contested hearings, mediations, trials, direct and cross-examination courtroom experience
- Active Texas Bar license in good standing
- Ability to manage cases independently
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and final orders
- Mediation and negotiation skills
- Ability to handle high-conflict matters
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills
- Ability to meet approximately 160 billable hours monthly
- Ability to work as a 1099 contractor and commit to a 6–8 month engagement
