About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal services across civil litigation and multiple practice areas
- Handle courtroom advocacy, trial work, motion practice, legal research and writing
- Manage discovery and depositions
- Conduct negotiation and mediation
- Develop case strategies and counsel clients
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Independently manage multiple matters
- Attend courts in Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties
- Meet approximately 160 approved billable hours per month
- Collaborate within a team-oriented law firm serving the Greater Houston area
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 8 years of legal practice experience
- Active Texas Law License
- Good Standing with State Bar of Texas
- Strong Civil Litigation Background
- Meaningful Trial Experience
- Courtroom Experience
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and legal memoranda
- Knowledge of at least 3 practice areas: Probate & Estate Planning, Real Estate, Business Transactions/Litigation, and Family Law
- Discovery and deposition experience
- Strong client communication skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple matters
- Ability to meet 160 monthly billable hours
- Ability to work as a 1099 contractor
- Ability to attend courts in Harris, Fort Bend, and Brazoria Counties
- Ability to work from the Houston area when needed
- Strong billing discipline
- Strong confidentiality and professional judgment
