About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own how software gets built, shipped, and run across infrastructure and product initiatives
- Design, build, and optimize GitLab CI/CD pipelines for building and testing microservices
- Implement and maintain GitOps-based deployments to Kubernetes
- Deploy and operate containerized applications on Kubernetes, including EKS, GKE, AKS, or on-premise environments
- Define standards for container images, manifests, and resource configuration
- Provision, scale, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CDK
- Build reusable infrastructure modules and keep environments consistent and auditable
- Support development teams with containerization, environment setup, architecture patterns, and continuous delivery practices
- Remove friction from the path to production
- Set up and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting for services and pipelines
- Manage secrets, access, and image security across CI/CD and Kubernetes
- Coach DevOps engineers, review their work, and raise the team's baseline
- Work closely with the Site Reliability Engineer on delivery tooling and platform architecture
- Build evidence to measure applied AI across the delivery lifecycle and inform future capability decisions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Strong expertise writing .gitlab-ci.yml, optimizing runners, managing artifacts and caching, and handling secrets in pipelines
- Hands-on experience running Kubernetes deployments with ArgoCD or Flux
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes core objects, including Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and HPA
- Day-to-day troubleshooting of Kubernetes workloads
- Proficiency with Docker, including multi-stage optimized Dockerfiles, image lifecycle, registry management, and container security basics
- Proven experience with Terraform or AWS CDK for automated infrastructure provisioning
- Solid AWS background
- Proficiency in Python or Bash
- Solid Linux and networking knowledge, including DNS, TLS, and load balancing
- Several years in DevOps or platform roles
- Experience taking charge of delivery tooling and mentoring less experienced engineers
- Nice to have: Bitbucket
- Nice to have: Progressive delivery, including canary and blue-green deployments
- Nice to have: Ansible or other configuration-management tooling
- Nice to have: A second cloud, ideally GCP
- Nice to have: Service mesh, including Istio, Linkerd, or Cilium
- Nice to have: Cost awareness and FinOps practices
- Nice to have: Start-up or scale-up experience
