About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with senior design staff to develop multi-domain co-simulation and digital twin capabilities for data center design and construction
- Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of data centers and associated internal and external environments
- Coordinate with design teams to define co-simulation objectives, performance metrics, acceptance criteria, prerequisites, assumptions, and initial conditions
- Identify coupling strategies and model boundaries across 1D networks, 3D CFD, and controls
- Develop thermo-hydraulic flow-network models for chilled water and liquid cooling systems, including pumps, valves, heat exchangers, CDUs, manifolds, and cold plates
- Build and maintain steady-state and transient system-level models, including redundancy/failure-mode scenarios and control logic impacts
- Develop co-simulation interfaces between 1D networks and 3D CFD/thermal models, managing data exchange, time steps, and convergence
- Perform pressure-drop, flow-balancing, and heat-rejection analyses to validate design intent and support equipment selection and sizing
- Create and maintain simulation-ready schematics, component libraries, metadata, reusable model assets, and digital-twin workflows
- Develop or review model setups, boundary conditions, solver settings, co-simulation time steps, and quality checks
- Prepare and review co-simulation reports documenting assumptions, methodology, results, and design recommendations
- Assist with proposals covering modeling scope, schedule, and budget
- Present modeling findings, interpret results, and provide engineering recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders
- Manage modeling tasks, resource forecasting, coordination, version control, and model assets/scripts
- Perform QA/QC peer reviews of co-simulation models
- Validate and calibrate system/co-simulation results using analytical techniques and real-world data
- Collect and reconcile BMS/SCADA and flow, temperature, and pressure measurements for model calibration
- Prepare validation and calibration reports documenting comparisons, uncertainty, limitations, and performance envelopes
- Coordinate with CFD, design, commissioning, operations, and project management teams
- Respond to technical queries regarding modeling assumptions, results, and design implications
- Review and approve model updates based on validation findings and project changes
- Prepare progress reports, issue logs, model status updates, assumptions logs, revision histories, and RFI responses
- Update model libraries, coupling scripts, and project documentation
- Manage personal hours using company tools
- Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to improve efficiency and work quality
- Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget
- Perform other related duties as assigned
