About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct detailed reviews of clients’ property tax data at the state and local level
- Provide consulting services to clients
- Manage and lead complex personal property compliance projects and assessment reviews of machinery and equipment
- Implement tax savings recommendations and strategies
- Participate in business development
- Prepare written reports supporting DMA’s position for taxing authorities
- Review and submit periodic status reports to clients
- Prepare Letters of Findings and tax summary data for clients
- Work with state and local tax officials to achieve optimal tax savings
- Manage assigned client accounts
- Stay abreast of state and local laws, court cases, statutes, and regulations
- Perform detailed industry and economic research to identify opportunities for clients
- Conduct physical inspections of facilities and meet with on-site management
- Assist with WIP reports and forecasting
- Represent clients during audits and hearings with taxing authorities
- Assist in scoping and developing customized solutions for new and prospective clients
- Manage, coordinate, and review activities of Tax Analysts and Senior Tax Consultants
- Research complex tax issues and opportunities for alternate reductions
- Identify additional tax savings avenues for clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- Coursework in Appraisal desired
- 5+ years of experience in property tax consulting, appraisal, or related field
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
- Organizational and interpersonal skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet travel requirements of the job – 25% at a minimum
- Valid Driver’s License
