About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the architecture for the system of systems, including aircraft, peer platforms, control stations, ground sensors, and command posts
- Define interfaces and interoperability among autonomy, mission systems, airframe, and flight controls
- Bridge the autonomy and aerospace engineering organizations
- Translate autonomy needs into requirements for airframe and flight controls teams, and vice versa
- Define and control interface control documents (ICDs) for mission autonomy software, vehicle management/flight control systems, and aircraft subsystems
- Set systems integration standards, review processes, and architecture governance
- Lead systems integration reviews and represent the integrated architecture at program-level design reviews
- Identify and resolve architecture-level conflicts before they become schedule or safety risks
- Build and mentor the systems integration function as the team scales
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience architecting systems of systems spanning software autonomy and a physical vehicle platform
- Track record owning integration architecture across multiple engineering organizations
- Deep comfort with interface control and requirements management between software/autonomy teams and hardware/vehicle teams
- Experience resolving architecture-level conflicts and trade-offs directly
- Experience building the systems integration function
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a Canadian security clearance (Secret or higher)
- Engineering degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience on an autonomous or uncrewed aircraft program specifically (nice to have)
- Background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or systems architecture frameworks (nice to have)
- Experience with flight-critical or safety-critical systems integration, including DO-178C/DO-254 or equivalent (nice to have)
- Exposure to RCAF, DND, or NATO airworthiness pathways for uncrewed systems (nice to have)
