About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define, together with the architecture team, the information storage structure; size and plan environment capacity; and develop detailed work plans focused on performance and availability.
- Define and implement operational and security procedures for database management systems.
- Install, customize, and maintain complex database software and related tools.
- Monitor the computing environment, identify failures, and troubleshoot database-related issues.
- Evaluate and recommend new database technologies based on business needs and cost-benefit considerations.
- Develop detailed project work plans, taking into account risks, internal guidelines, resources, materials, quality, and compliance.
- Execute capacity planning for database environments.
- Manage software licenses, keeping the environment compliant, and recommend enhancements or new acquisitions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a database administrator for on-premises or low-platform environments running Windows and Linux, particularly SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Experience monitoring environments and managing capacity.
- Knowledge of routine automation.
- Ability to interpret environment monitoring metrics.
- Experience with CDC-based replication tools (preferred).
- Graduate studies and certifications or courses in PostgreSQL and SQL Server (preferred).
