About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and deploy robust, scalable, high-performance backend services in Java
Expose backend endpoints through GraphQL with efficient data fetching and query optimization
Build event-driven solutions on Kafka for data flow, system reactivity, and reliability
Maintain visibility across the backend ecosystem and understand integrations across distributed infrastructure
Use LLM and agentic tools while maintaining full understanding and ownership of generated code
Solve complex problems involving how time is managed, processed, and presented globally
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex scheduling requirements into technical solutions
Participate in the hiring process through technical interviews, home assignment, executive interview, HR interview, and reference check stages

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equal practical experience
Professional experience designing, developing, and shipping production-ready, highly concurrent backend services in Java
Strong systems-level thinking
Ability to read, debug, and understand multilingual codebases
Practical experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures built on Kafka
Based in Germany with full right to work
Must already have the right to work in Germany
Visa sponsorship is not available
Relocation support is not available
Nice to have: advanced experience using AI-assisted engineering workflows
Nice to have: knowledge of reactive programming models, AWS or GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes
Nice to have: foundation in data structures, algorithms, and distributed system design
Nice to have: experience designing and serving APIs, ideally GraphQL
