About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical leadership in software design, construction, and validation
- Lead system architecture, requirements solicitation, capture, and organization
- Direct release planning, risk identification, and project estimation
- Lead test planning, test methodologies, quality tracking, defect management, and root cause analysis
- Define and develop best practices, methodologies, and architectures for project teams
- Guide and mentor other team members
- Potentially manage one or more direct reports
- Research industry, vendor, workshop, and meeting trends to identify beneficial technologies and processes
- Contribute to ideation and problem-solving events and implement ideas
- Assist with or lead technology roadmap development
- Recommend applications of new technologies to future business opportunities and products
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, executives, global partners, and suppliers to understand needs and present solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep expertise in software engineering
- In-depth knowledge of configuration management, requirements, and test techniques and methods
- Experience in safety critical applications
- Strong knowledge in embedded hardware and microprocessors
- Experience with a wide range of communication protocols
- Experience in firmware design
- Knowledge of control system designs
- Knowledge of C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and embedded operating systems
- Experience in requirements solicitation, capture, and organization
- Expertise in estimation, release-level planning and tracking, risk management, and team-level planning and tracking
- Proficiency in creating, reviewing, and evaluating business cases
- Knowledge of test planning, test methodologies, defect management, quality tracking, and root cause analysis
- Ability to design and architect process frameworks supporting testing and release management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering; Electrical, Software, Computer, or similar engineering degrees considered
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Willingness to travel less than 10%
