About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout project design phases under close supervision
- Assist with mechanical system designs and analytical models for HVAC, hydronic, piping, and mechanical equipment systems
- Produce designs from conceptual design through construction documents
- Perform airflow, heating and cooling load, pipe sizing, and pressure loss calculations with guidance from senior engineers
- Support construction administration by reviewing submittals and shop drawings
- Respond to requests for information (RFIs)
- Participate in assigned site visits
- Create coordinated 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models using CAD and modeling software
- Participate in internal and external coordination meetings
- Communicate progress and resolve design issues
- Identify training needs and seek knowledge from others
- Identify opportunities for technical and process improvements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience required
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical engineering required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- NCEES record for licensure maintenance preferred
- Basic knowledge of applicable mechanical engineering codes and standards
- Working knowledge of CAD and modeling software
- Ability to create coordinated 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models
- Strong record keeping skills
- Ability to participate in coordination meetings and site visits
