About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, and maintain Python and Java services supporting data flow and analytics pipelines
Develop, containerize, and orchestrate applications using Docker and Podman
Automate builds, tests, and deployments using Python/Bash scripts
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI and Jenkins
Integrate software components into larger architectures and support cross-domain data workflows
Troubleshoot runtime issues in containerized environments
Follow Draper’s quality management and best-practice processes
Collaborate with lead engineers, systems, ML, data science, and external partner teams
Produce technical notes, meeting minutes, status updates, reports, and other documentation
Execute assignments, design algorithms, analyze performance, develop software tests, and identify technical risks and mitigations
Communicate with customers and stakeholders regarding requirements, designs, and deliverables
Attend training, webinars, and conferences focused on modern DevOps practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or another related field required
Master's degree preferred
3–5 years of experience in Software Engineering or a related field
Fundamental understanding of software development and infrastructure concepts
Basic proficiency in Python and Java for scripting and application development
Familiarity with Docker, Podman, Git, and container technologies
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab CI, and Jenkins
Ability to write clear documentation and communicate technical ideas to diverse audiences
Ability to learn new programming languages and technologies quickly
Applicants may be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
