About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Strategize and execute Drata’s data engineering vision
  • Build data products serving analytics, product and engineering services, and ML/AI models
  • Optimize query performance, data ingestion, and processing time
  • Contribute to the data modeling layer
  • Build strong data governance processes
  • Create data engineering training and documentation for analysts
  • Interview, hire, and train future data engineers
  • Administer data orchestration using ETL, ELT, Reverse ETL, and modern tools
  • Automate processes in accordance with the company’s automation value
  • Enable teams to self-serve data and reporting for projects and decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
  • Experience in Change Data Capture (CDC)
  • Fluency in analytical SQL and ability to write complex, performant queries independently
  • Fluency in Python
  • Experience with some of Stitch/Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, Airbyte, Looker, Mode, Sigma, Hightouch, or Census
  • Clear, concise communication and ability to work well with others
  • Ability to explain complex data flows, datasets, or queries to non-technical people
  • Experience building AI to production
  • Bonus: experience building ML/AI pipelines
  • Curiosity and investigative mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast, high-growth startup environment with autonomy and collaboration
  • Willingness and ability to commute to the 2nd Street office each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Must be located in the United States or answer whether sponsorship will be required to work within the United States
