About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the technical direction for evidence collection and the framework/controls data model
Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to shape the roadmap
Design and build scalable, reliable systems that ingest and process evidence across many integrations and tenants
Lead cross-team initiatives such as re-architecting pipelines, introducing frameworks for adding compliance standards faster, and migrating shared functionality
Bring AI and agentic capabilities into evidence and framework workflows with guardrails for accuracy, auditability, and customer trust
Monitor SLOs, errors, latency, deployment signals, and change-failure signals
Investigate root causes and turn recurring issues into roadmap work
Review architecture and code for quality, scalability, and security
Empower teams to own implementation and delivery
Troubleshoot escalated performance and data-integrity issues through resolution
Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and informal coaching
Communicate technical decisions to engineers, product partners, and leadership
In the first 90 days, understand the architecture and publish an agreed technical direction
Within 6 months, lead a cross-team initiative with measurable impact
Within 12 months, improve platform reliability and extensibility while strengthening surrounding engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need

10+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems
Experience supporting customer-facing products in production
Technical leadership across multiple teams
Experience setting direction, driving alignment, and delivering complex cross-team initiatives
Deep experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, or integration-heavy platforms at meaningful scale
Strong backend fundamentals, including API design, relational databases, data modeling, testing, observability, and CI/CD
Production experience with TypeScript/Node.js
Ability to ramp quickly on TypeScript for strong engineers from other languages
Experience with at least one major cloud platform; AWS preferred
Experience with infrastructure as code
Practical use of AI-assisted development tools
Good judgment about where AI belongs in a product
Clear written and verbal communication
Experience in security, compliance, GRC, or audit products is nice to have
Experience building LLM-powered features or agentic workflows in production is nice to have
Familiarity with NestJS, TypeORM, Jest, Redis, and Elasticsearch is nice to have
Experience in a startup or growth-stage environment is nice to have
